Building a creative community across genres and mediums – working together with others to bring vision to life can draw your creative expression into new realms you may not think are possible on your own. Push boundaries with other artists. Your styles don’t have to match or even compliment one another. There is room enough for all types of expression to exist side by side, overtop one another, in and around each other.
Sharing what you create and encouraging one another is a crucial component to challenging yourself to spelunk into the hard to reach places of your spirit where new, untouched ideas live. Creating a community of artists makes a safe space where you give one another permission to be their whole self and to explore into the edges of their being.
Chances are, when you are a creative person (or any person) you will forget what you need to know when you really need to remember it. These other artists in your community can be the ones to remind you of what you are forgetting. They can help to reconnect you to your creative purpose – to your spirit.
Your creative community may give you the courage you need to try something new or to work through a dark and difficult time in a constructive and safe way through your art. They can help you learn to find your voice and find safe ways to heal through the voices of others.
But most of all, your creative community is there to remind you that creating and dreaming and exploring just for art’s sake is reason enough to do so. Art and creativity help keep your body, mind and spirit healthy and when you push the edges of your creative reach you encourage others to do the same.

Plus, collaborating can be a lot of fun. Art can feel lonely sometimes, especially during the creation phase, but when you collaborate you can make connections with other artist. If you can find that deep, true space from which you want to create your art and be with somebody else who is also in touch with that place within themselves ... that's when the magic happens. Nothing breaks up loneliness like true connection. Nothing shakes you out of a rut like a new idea - and those come in spades when you are heartstorming (like brainstorming, but from the heart) with another artist. Be together - even if it is virtually.
