Do you need a reason why?
Because you can.
How about your immune system gets a huge boost when you are creative. Or it’s great for your mind and emotions. You can transform pain into something beautiful. But it doesn’t have to be beautiful. It can be terrible. You can sculpt scenes out of spaghetti noodles or sing songs that you never write down or remember or dance like a crazy bumble bee. It doesn’t matter what you do – just create something that only you can create because nobody else is going to do that and it needs to be done.
Don’t try to fit into a mold – your art and your self – are bigger than that. Reach out from your heart in all directions, fill the world around you with your hopes and dreams.
Your art can be a very private thing. In fact, there is a very sacred and secret time for most projects - big and small - where sharing what you are creating takes away its power. Sometimes, trying to describe your "idea" or "theme" can be limiting. Sometimes there are no words. Any word or label you try to give to your work takes it out of the expansive scope of pure potential and brings it right back into the regular world of what was previously thought possible.
Create beyond the possibility of what you know. You are so much more that what you can see. Your truth is deeper than what you right now believe to be true. You are beyond any definition. And "out there" beyond what anybody else (even you) knows is where you will confront and befriend your most interesting and extraordinary ambitions and possibilities. Go beyond - out into the furthest reaches of your heart and build your studio there. Beyond explanation.
