Mantra: I am feeling
Our planet is 70 percent water. So are our bodies. Just as the water flows from streams to rivers and on to the ocean, your body flows with the energy of your emotions and with your creativity.
Ideally, your body is full and flowing with clean, fresh water. Drinking plenty of water each day is crucial to keep all the processes and elements in your body flowing. Too little water and your physical body can get stuck and stagnant, so go ahead and pour yourself another glass of water for this celebration of the water element in your body.
Our emotions also flow like water. Which emotions do you tend to avoid? Are there emotions that keep coming up in you again and again that you’d like to shift? How do you want to feel? Our bodies aren’t meant to always feel the same. When you try to control the way you feel, like when you hold back tears that really need to fall or you let a shout get caught in your throat when you need to speak up for yourself it’s like building a damn higher and higher against a strong river. You have to release the pressure, and you do that by finding a safe space to feel.
That safe space may be your own bedroom where you can feel safe to cry or scream into your pillow. It may be a place out in nature where you find the wide open spaces to feel the full span of your emotional, sensational body.
The important thing is to allow your emotions to flow.
There are times when we all have to hold back a feeling until we find a safe time and place to let it flow, and that’s okay. If we block those feelings for too long, the water starts to rise and press against whatever we’ve used to hold it back. When we allow our emotions to flow, a great cleansing can happen. Tears have a magical effect on detoxifying your physical body.
One of the best ways to create space for your feelings is to explore a creative outlet. Dance, draw, write, sing or sculpt how you are feeling. Transforming your feelings through artistic expression is a wonderful gift you give yourself. A body bogged down with unfelt feelings is like a heavy, dirty sponge full of dishwater and debris. When you allow the emotions to flow through you and out into the world through your creativity, you are releasing the stagnant energy and churning it into a gift for the whole world.
You don’t even have to share your art with the world in order to give this great gift. In fact, some of the best art is the kind you make just for yourself. Creating art simply for the cleansing act of feeling without putting expectations on the finished product allows you to really go wild with your creativity. You can fully express yourself without worrying about how it will be received. Unfiltered, pure expression. The gift you give the world is greater than whatever art you make – the true gift is your full and unfettered self, open and ready to let more feeling flow through you like water.
The water element in your body runs through your body on rivers of blood and through the lymphatic system. Your immune system is directly connected to the water element. Your health depends on the physical consumption of water, but the flow of your feelings and creativity are also crucial to your health and well-being.
If you were go to a shaman in any culture worldwide today or 3,000 years ago, and ask for help with a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual ailment, the first thing they would ask would be, “Have you been dancing? Have you been singing? Do you still tell stories?” For centuries, humans have understood the vital connection between living the creative life and living a healthy life. They are one in the same and intricately interwoven.
So sing, dance, tell stories. Tell your story through whatever artistic medium you prefer. Try all the modes and methods of creative expression and feel the healing waters of your emotions flowing through your vibrant body.

Close your eyes. Listen to the sound of water flowing. Maybe you are by the sea or a rushing river. Maybe it's the sound of rain on your roof. It could be water flowing into a bathtub. Sit in stillness or journal. Let whatever emotion that comes up flow like water.
All natural elements have the power to transform energy. Water's way is through flow. We use water to cleanse our physical bodies, but it can also have a powerful effect on washing our emotional or energetic bodies. The next time you are in water (whether it is a bath, the shower, tiptoeing through a river or floating in the ocean) let the water run over your skin and envision it washing away whatever it is that you are ready to release. It can be the dirt on your hands from digging in the garden or the sand off your feet from running down the beach, but it can also be the heaviness of sorrow or the confusion of stress. It can wash away the weight of an argument you had with a loved one or any doubt you have about your greatness. You are worthy and you are a fountain of love. Let that love flow through you endlessly and let that wellspring of love and joy wash over anything you are ready to transform. Flow.
